Is Diarrhea really a Cleansing Reaction?

Is Diarrhea really a Cleansing Reaction?

When your oil light on your car lights up, do you cover it up with duct tape? Do you just remove it? Do you ignore it and hope it will go away?

Of course not. You MUST find the source of the problem. Covering it up or removing it will mean that your car will break down soon, you will face a large repair bill, or possibly having to face the cost of a new car!

Your bowel and colon output is like the indicator light in your car. The big thing you need to know is that your stools are an indicator of what is going on in your body. Your stools can indicate a range from liver stress to parasitic infestation. Dr. Clark’s basic take is that diarrhea is a state of bacterial and parasitic toxicity, which needs immediate attention.

Guess the name of this Green Soup?

My first introduction to Stinging Nettles began approx. 15 years ago when my dear friend Marie was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver. I did a lot of research into natural help for her liver, and decided she needed nettles – immediately.

We found a great grove of nettles in a local park close to the walking path, and near the stream. We harvested a huge shopping bag of nettles and I actually shipped them to her by Fed Ex overnight.   I realize now how much value I put on those nettles or I would have never gone to that expense.

Now I am a little older, and still the stinging nettle is more than a spring tonic. It can be a real remedy for many with kidney and liver problems. It is a God-send for the do-it-yourselfers like me, who really appreciates God’s creation, and the freedom to make natural remedies for myself.

Here you go.  We actually celebrated with 2 friends, and we ate every single drop.  It tasted mildly like a spinach creamed soup.  Absolutely yummy.

Nettle Soup

  • Wash and chop nettles (don’t include stems)
  • Saute onion (saute for 3 mins),
  • add chopped nettles, saute for another 3 minutes,
  • add vegetable stock and 1 grated potato.  I guess it was approx. 4 cups worth – will definitely measure it next time.
  • Cook for 20 minutes.
  • Blend ingredients in a blender.
  • Add cashew milk (or other nut milk or creamer) – 1 cup?
  • Add s & p to taste.

Have fun and let me know how yours turned out!

Stinging Nettle Tea Recipe

Chopped Nettle LeavesYesterday, after writing about all those great health benefits of Stinging Nettle Tea, I went ahead and made some.

Truthfully, I was expecting a bitter, farm-like taste that you only endure because you need the great health benefits.

The experience was exactly the opposite – it almost tasted floral, and just like a basic tulsi tea.  It was very pleasant tasting and didn’t even require honey to doctor it up. One could even try adding a slice of ginger root or even a few mint leaves.

Method:

  1. Wash the Nettle leaves (mine had a few bugs and a spider)
  2. Chop a cup or two of nettle leaves and place in a teapot.
  3. Pour boiling water over the nettle leaves and let it steep for 15 minutes
  4. Strain and pour your cup of tea.  Enjoy.
  5. You can use 2 tsp dried nettle per cup if you don’t have fresh leaves.  Drink up to 4 cups daily.

Guess whose going to be getting some nettle tea next time they come over?  My 93-year old step-mother.  She loves anything exciting and healthy.  I tell her that she is my inspiration and my hero!

We’re making Nettle Soup tomorrow!

Your Liver loves Stinging Nettles!

Your Liver loves Stinging Nettles!

It’s stinging nettle time again!

My garden is budding with stinging nettle, and I’m guarding it like a mother hen, hoping nobody will come and chop it down. The green leaves are getting ready to become delicious tea today, and also to be dried for the future.

I think the reason that stinging nettle is so fabulous for the body is that it is both a liver AND kidney cleanser.  Almost like a face-lift and an age-reduction in one shot. How good is that!!

From all my research, here’s a list of some of the health improvements one may be able to expect.

  •  helps with arthritis and gout (helps eliminate uric acid from joints)
  •  skin problems like acne and eczema
  •  blood builder (helps with anemia and fatigue, and even heavy menstrual flow – contains natural iron and   Vitamin K)
  • great for pregnancy and childbirth
  • helps nursing moms to produce rich abundant breast milk
  • helps build strong bones (high in boron, which helps your bones to retain calcium.)
  • shrinks enlarged prostate and even hemorrhoids
  • stimulates the lymphatic system, aiding the kidneys to excrete wastes (stones)
  • helps with water retention

Wow. There’s something for everyone in this list. It’s worth it for the do-it-yourselfer to go find some nettles immediately and get started.

Taking your gloves (the nettles really do sting) and gardening shears and a large shopping bag, pick the top leaves from the plant and fill your bag (leaves, no flowers).  I even take the leaves 6 inches down the stem.

In our area, stinging nettles can be found along walking trails, in moist park areas near streams, and often in your own back yard. If you can’t find any, you could ask your local nursery or a farmer. I would even post a want ad on a local bulletin board!  Someone will surely know where they can be found.  If you can’t find fresh nettles, you can buy dried nettles in the health supply store.

Next post I will show you my pictures of how I made my tea, and what it tasted like!

Keep looking after your liver!

2 Cleansing Baths

2 Cleansing Baths

1.  GINGER BATH
(for extracting poisonous toxins from the body)

Note:  I took an Iridology training course taught by Teresa Schumacher and her daughter, Toni Lund.  We learned about the Ginger Bath in the training course.  Although I still have this recipe in my notes, the following comes from Teresa’s book “Cleansing the Body and the Colon for a Happier and Healthier You”, which I received at the course.

Ingredients:
3 heaping tablespoons of ginger powder (purchased in bulk at a health food store or grocery store)
Bathtub of warm water
Herb Tea or Chicken Broth sprinkled with Cayenne

Directions:
Get into the bathtub and increase the temperature of the water until it is hot (not burning).
Sit in the tub of water for 20 minutes and drink the tea/soup.

You should feel like sweating.
After 20-30 minutes, dry off and wrap yourself in a sheet or light blanket.

Go to bed for an hour and continue to sweat.  Remove the sheet or blanket and enjoy a good night’s rest.

The ginger bath releases toxins from the body, and will give you a sense of renewed vigor and health.  This treatment is ideal whenever you feel a cold or flu coming on.  It quickly removes the toxins from the body and decreases the time you would spend being ill.

Do not expect results overnight.  Long-term problems take a longer time and patience.

2.  EPSOM SALTS BATH – LYMPHATIC CLEANSE BATH
(from a friend, Gail)

Ingredients:
1 cup baking soda
1 cup Epsom salts (USP Grade)
Tub filled with hot water – as hot as you can comfortably soak in.

Procedure:
Soak in the tub for 20 – 30 minutes.
When you come out, relax and sweat it out.

Helps the lymphatic system, blood circulation, and skin detox.  See the list below for extra benefits.

When you get out of the tub, wrap in a blanket and let your body sweat and detox even more.

3.  EPSOM SALTS CLEANSE BATH RECIPE II

(from a mother of an autistic child)

Ingredients:
1 cup Epsom salts  (USP grade)
Tub filled with hot water – as hot as you can soak in

Procedure:
Soak in the tub for 20 – 30 minutes

This bath is a simple, effective way to supply the body with magnesium and sulphur, which are absorbed well through the skin.
It is great for autistic children in that they are generally lacking in magnesium and sulfur, and have difficulty metabolizing them.

Try this bath right before bed time.
May help with insomnia.

Epsom Salts has also been used for:

  • pain relief – like arthritic pain, muscle aches, tenderness and discomfort
  • pain from sports and muscle tenderness from sprains and strains
  • improving sleep
  • cramps or restless leg syndrome
  • energy boost
  • stress relief
  • helping the body heal
  • detoxify the skin and pores
  • insect bites
