Hulda Clark Dental Cleanup

Dr. Clark taught that the health of your mouth is an indicator of the health of the rest of your body.  Somehow we treat our teeth separately from the rest of the body.  Maybe it’s because we have two separate professionals – the dentist and the doctor who do not usually communicate.

Mostly the dentist cares only about teeth they are working on.  Do they ask us about arthritis that has suddenly set in after the last dental appointment?  Or a heart condition?  The patient does not think to tell the dentist about his health condition.  It’s the doctor that finds out about the problems in the office, and treats the symptoms.  Do they ask when you last had dental work, or if you just had a root canal? Does the doctor ever speak to the dentist?  No.

Dr. Clark says that THE IMPORTANCE OF THE DENTAL CLEAN-UP CANNOT BE UNDERESTIMATED and should be dealt with at the beginning.

Do not be persuaded otherwise by anyone. The rule of dentistry is to save a tooth at all costs, when it should be ‘don’t keep anything in your mouth that impacts negatively on your immune system’. It is often the difference between illness and true health and when ignored can be the cause of failure or limitation with your health.

Most people do not realize that their mouth is a hidden source of poison, infection and bacteria. This includes root canals, abscesses, metal crowns, mercury amalgams (silver fillings) and mercury tattoos (mercury lodged in gum tissue) and hidden cavitations (infected holes in the jaw bone in previous extraction sites).

Clostridium bacteria plays a role in tumor formation and cancer, and is found in tooth crevices, under tooth fillings and in dairy products. Clostridium is hard to get rid of.

The 2 key things you must do in Dr. Clark’s Dental Cleanup are:
1. Get rid of toxic mercury in the mouth
2. Get rid of clostridium and infection hidden around and in the teeth

The hidden infections found in all root canal treated teeth continues to be arguably the most significant cause of many serious degenerative diseases, most notably cancer and heart disease. It is our opinion that the evidence clearly shows that many, if not most, significant diseases and medical conditions get their start in the dentist’s chair. Some of the dental procedures performed every day by practicing dentists certainly initiate many, and worsen most, medical conditions.

Root canal treated teeth are not the only sources of dental infection, although they are probably the most significant in terms of severity of the diseases they cause. Cavitations are another major contributing source of dental toxicity that remains virtually unknown to the vast majority of practicing dentists world wide . . . The case histories that we have cited are nevertheless very real, and the number of people affected by the toxicity of cavitations exceeds even the number of people affected by the toxicity of root canal treated teeth. The vast majority of people that have ever had teeth extracted, especially the larger teeth such as the wisdom teeth and the molars, are suffering from the toxicity of these gangrenous holes in their jawbones. This also means that older dental patients who may feel that they have ‘escaped’ the many toxins associated with modern dental care when they finally get full mouth extractions and dentures have only traded one form of dental toxicity for another form. The denture wearers uniformly have an enormous amount of cavitation-related toxicity. In isolated patients, cavitations toxicity can be as bad or worse than root canal treated toxicity . . .

It appears that any dental infection, whether it is gum-related, root canal-related, cavitation-related, abscess-related, or implant-related, has very consistent and serious medical consequences.

A focal infection seeds microbes throughout the body. The mouth continues to be the most significant source of these seedlings.”

Only a dentist who is trained in the safe removal of toxic mercury fillings should perform dental work in your mouth. Your dentist should be a metal-free dentist.    Find out the name of any substance (fillings, caps, etc) that goes into your mouth for research on safety.

Here are the rules for finding a good dentist.

1.  Find a dentist who does not place mercury fillings.

2. Find a dentist who does not do root canals.

3.  Find a dentist who will remove amalgam tattoos (pieces in the gum)

4.  Find a dentist who will treat cavitations i.e. clean up holes and bone infections in the gums resulting from an extraction.

Extract all badly damaged teeth and root canals.  Change the following to plastic fillings:  metal fillings, inlays and onlays, crowns, bridges, metal partials.  Pink dentures must be changed to clear plastic, and porcelain denture teeth must be changed to plastic denture teeth.

Practical things you can do immediately:

1. Use Oregano oil to keep your mouth clean. Put one drop in a plastic spoon, dip your toothbrush in it (so you only get 1/2 a drop) and brush. It reaches clostridium in the tooth crevices.

2. Do oil-pulling in your mouth using coconut oil.  Coconut oil contains lauric, which is anti-microbial, and what I have used for oil-pulling.  Put a small teaspoon of coconut oil in your mouth and gently swish for a good 5 minutes or more.  You are removing bacteria as you swish, pushing the oil through your teeth, etc. and NOT SWALLOWING.  Spit it out into the garbage.  You don’t need very much coconut oil to do the job.

3.  Brush with a soft brush, and floss every time.

4.  Rinse your mouth with water, especially when you eat between meals, and after meals.

5.  Dr. Clark says “Don’t use toothpaste, not even health-food varieties.  To clean teeth, use plain water or chemically pure baking soda, but dissolve it in water first, otherwise it is too abrasive.  Or brush with hydrogen peroxide food grade not the regular variety.  Don’t use floss, use 2-4 pound monofilament fish line.  Floss has mercury antiseptics (with thallium pollution!).  Throw away your old toothbrush – solvents don’t wash away.”  p. 438, The Cure for All Diseases.  Elsewhere she says “Toothpaste has toxic metals (tin, fluoride, strontium) besides benzene pollution.” p. 296 The Cure for All Diseases.

There are tooth soaps and tooth powders available that I feel are compatible with Dr. Clark’s approach.  I also make easy diy homemade toothpaste using ingredients such as baking soda, coconut oil, mineral drops, wintergreen essential oil, etc.

6.  Dr. Clark says “Don’t use mouthwash.  Use saltwater (aluminum-free salt) or food grade hydrogen peroxide (a few drops in water).”  p. 438, The Cure for All Diseases.  Later on page 533, she says “Don’t use hydrogen peroxide, though, if you have metal fillings, because they react…..never purchase hydrogen peroxide in a bottle with a metal cap.  For persons with metal tooth fillings, use chemically pure baking soda or just plain hot water.  A healthy mouth has no odor!  You shouldn’t need a mouthwash!  If you have breath odor, search fo a hidden tooth infection or cavitation.

7.  Change your Toothbrush often.  Dr. Clark says “Buy a new toothbrush.  Your old one is soaked with toxins from your old toothpaste.  Use only water or chemically pure baking soda if you have any metal fillings.  Put a pinch in a glass, add water to dissolve it.  Use food-grade hydrogen peroxide if you have only plastic fillings.  Dilute it from 35% to 17 1/2 % by adding water (equal parts).  Store hydrogen peroxide only in polyethlylene or the original plastic bottle.  Use 4 or 5 drops on your toothbrush.  It should fizz nicely as oxygen is produced in your mouth.  Your teeth will whiten noticeably in 6 months.  Before brushing teeth, floss with 4 or 2 pound monofilament fish line. Double it and twist for extra strength.  Rinse before use.  Floss and brush only once a day.  If this leaves you uncomfortable, brush the extra times with plain water and a second “water-only” toothbrush.  Make sure that nothing solid, like powder, is on your toothbrush, it will scour the enamel and give you sensitive teeth, especially as you get older and the enamel softens.  Salt is corrosive – don’t use it for brushing metal teeth.  Plain water is just as good.” p. 532-533, The Cure for All Diseases

8.  “For Dentures.  Use salt water.  It kills all germs and is inexpensive.  Salt water plus grain alcohol or food-grade hydrogen peroxide makes a good denture-soak.”  p. 533, The Cure for All Diseases

9. Use a notebook to write down any improvements such as sinus conditions, ear-ringing, enlarged neck glands, headache, enlarged spleen, bloated condition, knee pain, foot pain, hip pain, dizziness, aching bones and joints, improvements in your energy level.  These could all be indicators that getting your mouth cleaned up is helping the rest of your body.

FINAL NOTE:  We have been learning about the microbiome of the body.  In fact, we have a number of microbiomes in our body, which are basically a mini-ecosystem which makes up the majority of our body.  They tell us it is the genetic material of all the microbes that live on and inside the human body.   The gut, skin, mouth are all examples of ecosystems which are communities of bacteria, viruses, and fungi that live harmoniously within us.

It is hard to imagine, but these friendly critters live in us and actually help us in many ways, one being our immune system.  Some of these pathogens, fungi and viruses are free loaders and don’t help us, but we are now being told that many of these are beneficial, and live inside us in a mutually beneficial relationship.  The mouth is one of those ecosystems.  Many health issues such as immune health, psychological health, and chronic disease, can now be traced to our “inner garden” or “microbial community”.

We believe that keeping a meticulously clean mouth is helpful, but now we are learning that certain supportive probiotics could hold the key to changing the eco-system in the mouth, helping to support healthy gums, less dental carries, and other benefits for the mouth.  In fact, this year our local health food store was selling out on probiotic lozenges during strep season.  The goal now is not to kill off all the microbes we encounter and which benefit us, but to keep them strong to fight the bad type which cause destruction and disease.
